The technology of the complex.
For the efficient operation of gas generators, wood chips are preliminarily loaded into a dryer, moving inside it is dried and unloaded into a loader bucket by an auger.
Drying is powered by heat from the heat exchangers of the exhaust gases of the power station. Next, the dried chips are loaded by a loader into the receiving bunker of the power station.
In the bunker, it is also additionally dried and then automatically fed into the combustion chamber, where generator gas is released. The gas passing through the cooling and filtration system is directed to the internal combustion engine connected to the 0.4 kW electric generator.
This complex is serviced by one operator per shift.

More about power station GGU-100S

The GGU-100S gas generating power station is designed to generate electrical and thermal energy from wood fuel. Wood chips, briquetted or granulated wood waste are used as fuel.
Also, after preliminary preparation and granulation, it is possible to use a number of industrial and household waste.
The gas-fired power plant is designed and manufactured to meet stringent environmental requirements.
In view of the foregoing, our company offers a new technology of gas generating plants with a reversed combustion process.

The gas-generating power plant consists of a receiving fuel bunker with a drying device, a generator gas production and treatment system, and a gas-piston power generating unit. In the standard version, the gas-piston power unit is based on YaMZ-238 engines, which ensures ease of operation, maintenance and wide distribution of spare parts. The engine control system is specially adapted for the efficient use of generator gas as the main fuel and is fully coordinated with the generator control system. The resource of the engine before overhaul is at least 30 thousand motor hours.

The GGU-100S gas generating power plant can operate both independently (off-grid) and in connection with the unified state power system. The control electronics of the generator ensures the necessary parameters and accurate synchronization of the electrical networks. The control system has the functionality of notifying the operator of existing errors and provides an automatic emergency stop with disconnection from the grid, in case of their occurrence. The graphic screen has a Russian interface language and clearly displays the processes and parameters occurring in real time.

The fuel is loaded into a receiving hopper equipped with drying air heaters and feed mechanisms to the gas generator inlet. The volume of one-time loaded fuel ensures continuous operation of the power plant for at least 6 hours. The floor of the fuel bin is equipped with a walking beam system and perforated base sheets, which provide active mixing of chips and circulation of warm air.
The gas generator reactor and piping system are mounted directly on the frame support brackets and bolted to them.
The flow of fuel into the combustion core from the feed conveyors occurs cyclically, with the possibility of adjusting the duration of their work, the working cycle of gas generation is not interrupted. The gas generator reactor compartment has a separate control cabinet that allows you to turn on / off its mechanisms and control the necessary parameters; in case of their deviation, a signal is given to turn off the entire gas generator plant, thereby reducing the risk of accidents.

In accordance with fire safety requirements, the compartment is equipped with fire extinguishers and equipped with smoke / high temperature / high CO content sensors, in case of their operation, a signal is given to force the entire system to shut down.
In the lower part of the combustion chamber of the gas generator reactor there is a grate with a mechanical rotating drive. The coal residue is removed with the gas flow and filtered out by a fabric high-temperature filter, heavy unburned residues (stones, metal inclusions) accumulate in the ash chamber. The gas generator housing has an inspection hatch that provides access for maintenance and cleaning of the gasification chamber.
After separation of the ash residue, the generator gas enters a group of external (filled with wood chips) control filters, where it is additionally cleaned and pre-cooled. After the aggregate is contaminated, it is used as an additive to the main fuel and thus disposed of.
Further, the gas is sent to an external radiator-cooler for final cooling and control separation of moisture from the fuel (condensate is released when fuel with irregular high humidity is used), which makes it possible not to stop the operation of the units even if a batch of low-quality fuel arrives.
Prolonged use of low-quality, wet fuel is not allowed, this will lead to contamination of the internal surfaces of heat exchangers and filters, and also significantly reduces the engine power of the power plant.

After cooling and drying, the gas is sent to the engine mixing manifold, which is equipped with automatic throttle systems to maintain the optimum quality and quantity of the fuel mixture.
After starting and warming up the engine, operations are performed to set the operating voltage and frequency of the generated voltage, synchronization with the state power grid is performed, and the transmission of electricity is controlled automatically. When the engine is stopped manually or automatically, gas extraction from the gas generator is completely stopped, respectively, the air supply to the combustion zone of the gas generator is also stopped, the gas generation process is also stopped.
Gas-generating power plants can be connected to existing engineering networks for transferring thermal energy to other facilities or premises (drying complexes, utility networks, own premises). GGU-100S gas-fired power plants are a great way to electrify remote sites that need autonomous power supply, or reduce the peak load of an enterprise with an existing connection to the power system.
Separately, I would like to note the environmental component, gas generators have a low emission of harmful substances and can also be used for the disposal of various types of household or industrial waste with the generation of electrical and thermal energy (given the complexity of the chemical composition of the waste, special research work is carried out with the analysis of samples of the generated generator gas and engine exhaust gases , after receiving the results, a decision is made on the possibility of their disposal).
